Unfortunatly South Africa has one of the strictest and most complicated travel regulations for pets. But DON’T WORRY! With us, you have the right partner on your side. We will guide you through the process and do EVERYTHING necessary to bring your pet safe to South Africa.
First things first!
A few IMPORTANT INFORMATIONS you need to know:
- Once the process of exporting hast started you and your pet need to depart from Rwanda within 30 days
- Your pet needs to be chipped (if it is not until now, we can provide this too)
- 30 days before departure, you need to bring your pet to us so we can take blood samples. Those samples will be sent to South Africa for further analysis. (This process can take up to 3 weeks)
- Please provide your pets vaccination card
- Please also note kindly, that we can only start the process after proof of payment (details see below)
- In this time please apply for a South African IMPORT PERMIT
- 10 days before departure. You need to bring your pet again to our clinic so we can make a health check and apply for the Rwandan Export permit. We will also provide your pet with everything they need to be allowed to enter South Africa (SA Health certificate, Parasite treatment,…)
For this we need from you:

- -your passport
- -your pets vaccination card
- -Your flight tickets
- -Your pets IMPORT PERMIT (Issued from South Africa)
After we have all the information we can start the process.

Note that additional costs for parasite treatment, chipping and vet declaration fees from SA may occur.
Pet transit
We are very happy to help you with travelling with your pet. Kindly fill out this form (link transit permit) and add following scans: (also the forms need to be replaced to ones with new logo)
- ID/Passport
- Health certificate of the country of origin
- Vaccination card or pet passport
- Pet Export permit of the country of origin
